         Light Painting and Panorama Workshops

I have had the opportunity to deliver two photography workshops in the Oldham library through Peshkar. I was required to plan my workshops very clearly with details of equipment, timing and process. The first in March 2017 was on creating photographic panoramas. The participants were from different age groups ranging from 6 - 28 years. Working from the children’s library upstairs I positioned my camera in front of the very large windows giving a distant view of Oldham out towards the hills in the east. I showed some examples of my own work looking through these windows to help explain the process.

I had taken my laptop with me as well as my DSLR camera and used my Photoshop programme to edit the panned images to create stitched panoramas. I had taken a crib sheet with me as a reference for those old enough to understand the instructions.

The second workshop I delivered was on light painting. This took place in the performance space at the library in Oldham. The workshop was well attended and the participants – both adults and children alike – were very keen on producing their own artistic creations using a variety of lighting equipment with me operating my Nikon D7200 standing on a sturdy tripod. Slow shutter speed was the order of the day to capture a variety of wonderful colourful images which demonstrate the great potential of this technique
